Once the head of the Council of the Wise and the eponymous White Council, Saruman the White was corrupted by the persuasive powers of the Dark Lord when he looked enviously into the Palantir of Orthanc. In doing so, he walked down a path that would strip him of his nobility and turn him into a treacherous parody of a true Istari. Consequently, Saruman exploited his prodigious intellect to create an army capable of rivaling that of the Dark Lord. What he hoped to achieve with his treachery remains a mystery, but in any case, he used his magical knowledge against his old friend Gandalf the Grey and condemned thousands of innocents to death when he ordered his legions to invade Rohan and lay it to waste.

Gríma is a man of Rohan who sold his services to Saruman in exchange for the promise of wealth and power, a despicable act that led him to enter the service of King Théoden, where his actions could have been more harmful. When Rohan was in desperate need of heroic guidance, Gríma's advice was words of despair. Thus, a very promising ruler was stripped of his will to act, forced to sit apathetically while the Westfold burned. Although he is not a warrior, Gríma’s strength lies in his ability to corrupt the words and thoughts of those around him, even robbing the wise of their heroism.

On the battlefield, Saruman the White and Gríma Wormtongue form a highly effective combination of sorcery and corrupting influence, the ideal complement to the raw brutality of the Uruk-hai under their command.

This set includes 4 plastic miniatures: Saruman on foot and on horseback, Gríma Wormtongue, and a Palantir on a pedestal. The models are supplied with one 40mm round Citadel base and three 25mm round Citadel bases. You can find their rules in Armies of The Lord of The Rings™.
