At
the Japanese imperial court, a long time ago...
After
a long series of disputes, diplomatic relations between Japan and China were
finally restored. In order to properly celebrate this alliance, the Chinese
Emperor gifted his Japanese counterpart a sacred animal, a giant panda, as a
symbol of peace. The Emperor of Japan entrusted his courtiers (the players)
with the difficult task of taking care of the animal by cultivating its bamboo
garden. They must cultivate the land, irrigate it and grow one of the three
species of bamboo with the help of the imperial gardener. They will have to deal
with the insatiable hunger of the sacred animal, always in search of the most
tender and juicy bamboo shoots...
In
Takenoko, the player who grows the most bamboo, managing their plots of land
well and feeding the panda in the meantime, will win the game.
