Developed in collaboration with Mojang, the video game production house made famous by the game itself, the product is designed to allow players to relive the sandbox atmospheres that have made Minecraft famous. At the helm of the design of this new board game is Ulrich Blum, already known for being the creative mind behind Antigua and Grand Cru (both dating back to 2010) or, more recently, Speed Snacks (2015).
For those few who may not yet know Minecraft, here are some information that will help you frame what is, in fact, a true mass phenomenon of pop culture: born in 2009 (but released only in 2011) thanks to the fertile imagination of Markus Persson, it quickly distinguished itself for the distinctly sandbox approach that has always driven it.
This approach has undoubtedly been widely rewarded by the gaming community: starting quietly, it has gone on to sell well over 190 million copies. In fact, it is the best-selling video game of all time!
In Minecraft: Builders & Biomes Board Game, the players from 2 to 4 will compete against each other in heated challenges lasting about 30-60 minutes each. During each game, each participant, while exploring the Overworld, will need to try to score as many points as possible by collecting rare cubes, battling against ferocious creatures and building buildings. In doing so, they can rely on weapons and special resources (which must still be mined). All of this starts from a shared block of only 64 cubes.
